I lucked-out yesterday and got a couple pictures of the Long-tailed Duck at Shrock Lake. http://picasaweb.google.com/mvalencic/LongTailedDuck# In the morning (sleeping pictures) it was very close to the parking lot - maybe 20 feet off shore - but would not pull its head out from under its wing. I stopped by again about 4:30 and it was fishing across the lake near the observation area. The last picture is of bubbles! As reported the other day it is diving and eating something on or near the bottom. I would follow the bubbles through my spotting scope to see where it would 'pop-up' next. It was like following a carp that creates bubbles as it scours the lake bottom.
