jerry talkington set up a lake watch this afternoon (11/13/2008) at sunset park, a small park along lakeshore blvd. in willoughby and had an immature parasitic jaeger and a juvenal northern gannet. the parasitic jaeger was at least the third individual of this species seen between sunset park and mentor headlands in the past two weeks as plumage patterns ranged from very dark to the probable adult bird off mentor lagoons on 11/11/2008. jerry reports the n. gannet was heading westward and with today's report of both parasitic and pomarine jaegers at lorain these pelagic pirates may be staging a minor flight on lake erie.
