This morning Jackie & Tom Bain and myself were leading a walk for the Delaware County Preservation Parks at Blue Creek Preserve near Ostrander. Our overall species list was somewhat short but during the program there was a flyover of about 35 Sandhill Cranes. Birds observed included: Turkey Vultures Red-tailed Hawk Sandhill Crane - flyover of about 35 Killdeer Mourning Dove Red-bellied Woodpecker Downy Woodpecker Hairy Woodpecker Northern Flicker Eastern Phoebe Blue Jay American Crow Carolina Chickadee Tufted Titmouse White-breasted Nuthatch Carolina Wren Golden-crowned Kinglet Ruby-crowned Kinglet Eastern Bluebird - nice numbers, estimated at 25 to 30 American Robin European Starling Cedar Waxwing - nice group feeding close and drinking at stream water accumulations Yellow-rumped Warbler Song Sparrow White-throated Sparrow White-crowned Sparrow Dark-eyed Junco Northern Cardinal Red-winged Blackbird Common Grackle House Finch American Goldfinch Later I got home and Linda had cabin fever, so we took a walk at Inniswood Metro Park and stopped at the dam at Hoover Reservoir on the way home.
