The birding community was out in force this morning at Huron, despite the icky weather, well outnumbering both hunters and fishermen in the area. The hoped-for jaegers appeared, coming and going from the harbor/lighthouse area. Throughout, the morning, there were a number of individual sightings, but there were at least two PARASITICS present. Others reported a Pomarine, but I was not fortunate to see this bird. An adult Parasitic (light-morph), which flew parallel and quite close to the breakwall was the highlight of the morning, and as I was leaving, an adult visited the actual harbor area quite briefly. The close-by adult showed brownish overall plumge, a neat, brown cap - not extending below the eye, and long, pointed, central tail feathers. A stop at the Chausee yielded a few shorebirds - Dunlin (30), Black-bellied Plover (3), Greater Yellowlegs (1), and LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER (1). Good birding - Gabe Leidy Cleveland ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
