While doing some routine feeder-watching this morning here in Poland Twp. (Mahoning Co.), I spotted a flock of 8 snow geese fly over to the SE. A male common grackle was the only odd feeder bird today. Nearby at King's L. in Coitsville Twp., 2 tundra swans were with the usual crowd of Canada geese; Am. black ducks, pied-billed grebe, 40 ring-billed gulls, and 8 herring gulls were also there. A white-throated sparrow was a welcome find at a Coitsville feeder. I checked the Mahoning River from Lowellville to Struthers, it had only the usual Canada geese and mallards plus 2 n. mockingbirds. Marshes and ponds are pretty well frozen around here now.
