I had another vacation day and couldn't find any crossbills so I ended up at Sims Park this afternoon. Yesterday the lake was violent with strong northwest winds and it was hard to see ducks on the lake. Today the lake was smooth and there were lots of ducks & swans. Here is what I saw between 1:30 and 3pm: Tundra Swans - 40 in water after flying in - scattered around and stayed - few came in real close, (got pictures) Canvasback 40 - to the east Redhead - to the west a group of 45 ducks with mostly redhead & some scaup, also group of 21 together and a few in with canvasbacks to the east Lesser Scaup - 10 - 15 to the east White-winged Scoters 2 Black Scoters 2 Bufflehead 28 Common Goldeneye - 40+ Hooded Mergansers 9 Red-breasted Mergansers - not a lot RUDDY DUCKS - 55 in a group to the west, 166 in a long group to east Bald Eagle 1 adult A.
