Today was the first time in quite a while that I have been home most of the
day to see what is coming to my feeders in North Perry. I was kind of
surprised to see a chipping sparrow and a fox sparrow amongst the many
birds. Both were present throughout the day. I also counted 11
white-throated sparrows as well as a single white-crowned. When I first
started feeding here wintering white-throated sparrows were either
non-existent or were only single individuals. The number has been slowly
growing over the last few years. Last year I saw 6-7 birds.

I only had a single siskin at the feeder and no crossbills. I did have two
flocks of white-winged crossbills fly by, one of 45 birds and the other of
14 birds. Both flocks were flying west. I have a few hemlock and spruce
cones on the trees in the yard, but no takers.
