a first-winter black-headed gull and a first-winter franklin's gull were again found at the mouth of the grand river this morning (12/02/2008).  these are the same individuals that have frequented this area of the grand river for more than two weeks.  to repeat a previous posting, just the sight of the spectacle of 20,000 bonaparte's gulls in the fairport harbor area is worth the trip to headlands.
