Hi all, I just returned from the rather startling spectacle of seeing a gorgeous adult Baltimore Oriole eating chunked pineapple and other fare at the feeders of Becky Schmitt in Worthington (north Columbus suburb). I appreciate her bringing such a great record to light. Remarkably, she had a first-year male visiting these same feeders last winter, and I'd think this is same Arctic oriole back for another stab at enduring one of our winters. This is not unprecedented - there are at least 30 other winter Baltimore Oriole records from Ohio - but it is still a bit of a shock to see one here now, especially with temps hovering around the mid-20's and powerful icy winds making it seem much colder. If anyone would like to see the bird, please let me know and I will gladly put you in touch with Becky. I also managed some rather decent photos, and will slap those up on my blog later today - URL below. Jim McCormac Jim McCormac Columbus, Ohio Like nature?
