I checked L. Milton yesterday 12/30.  There was very little ice, and the water level is way down.  Tons of habitat for a super-late shorebird.  I looked real hard, but couldn't turn up even a killdeer.  Out on the water, I didn't find a single diving duck.  Here's what I did see:  125 Canada geese (mostly smaller-race birds), 280 mallards, 34 Am. black ducks, 2 gadwall, 2 Am. coots, 375 ring-billed gulls, 8 herring gulls, n. flicker, e. bluebird.  I got back home in late afternoon, and searched Coitsville Twp. and Poland Twp. for raptors.  I found 4 red-shouldered hawks.  At dusk I looked for short-eared owl, but no success.  The sunset was spectacular, though!!    Later, Craig
