Took a ride to the gravel pits on route 33 between Wapak and New Hampshire. Really wasn't that expectant figuring the water would be froze over. As I neared the pits I could see some geese flying around circling and thought I 'd check out the pond on the north side ..turned on the Wrestle-Creek Road and looking out on the ice could see 2 big birds .. to my surprise the one's profile looked an awful like an eagle ,, the other a goose,, I looked thru the binocs and sure enough a bald eagle ,,, adult..wasn't long it toook to the air . the goose stayed. The eagle sored a bit then headed est . Soon the flock of geese came back,, about 30 of them and then a flock of ducks landed ,,,loooked to be a flock of mallards about 70 or so. So wasn't a bad afternoon. Also seen 2 redtails and 3 kestrels along the roadways.
