Late this afternoon a lone common redpoll spent about 20 minutes getting her fair share of thistle from a feeder I put up a couple of weeks ago. It obviously paid off! What a beautiful bird!

Other highlights of the day included:

pine siskins - in varying numbers

YB sapsucker - male who's been a regular visitor for the last 3 or so weeks

red-shouldered hawk - has become a regular visitor to our yard. This morning he (or she) perched high in a old hickory tree and was undisturbed by the bus stopping underneath it to pick up my son.
