Maumee Bay State Park Birds - Tuesday afternoon on the boardwalk behind the nature center. 1. Eastern Phoebe - 1 with a light lemon belly and chest, right behind the center. 2. Swamp Sparrow - 9 was able to call in 7 of them. 3. Song Sparrow - 4 4. American Tree Sparrow - 27 5. Carolina Wren - 1 6. Winter Wren - 1 7. Brown Creeper - 3 8. Black-capped Chickadee - 4 9. White-breasted Nuthatch - 5 10. Hairy Woodpecker - 2 11. Downy Woodpecker - 5 12. Tundra Swan - 15 fly-over's Bayshore Fishing Access area - by the inlet to the plant 1. Black-crowned Night Herons - 11 2. Double-crested Cormorants - 9 3. Pied-billed Grebe - 1 4. American Coot - 4 5. Canvasback - too many to count in the snow storm 6. Redhead Duck - 4 7. ONE UNKNOWN DUCK - not in any of my books. 8. Mallards - nice males in the snow. Pearson Metro-park - Windows on Wildlife feeders - huge windows, nice feeders, easy watching during the snow storm. 1. Pine Siskins - 4 eating lots of thistle then bathing in the rock waterfall and pond. 2. Common Grackle - 2 3. Brown-headed Cowbird - at least 6 4. Red-bellied Woodpecker - 1 pair, the male was showing his RED BELLY nicely on the hanging feeder with suet. 5. Hairy Woodpecker -1 nice male 6. Downy Woodpecker - at least 4 7. American Tree Sparrows - several with some bathing in the pond too. 8. American Goldfinch - two dozen or more. 9. B.c. Chickadee - 2 10. W.b. Nuthatch - 4 11. Tufted Titmouse - 2 12. N. Cardinal - at least 12. 13. American Robins - all over the park and one bathed in the pond. 14. Sharp-shinned Hawk - nice adult female (almost Cooper's Hawk size) 15.
