Jim Fry reported the recording of a Kittiwake at Hoover Reservoir in 1970. Jim indicated that Dr. Milton B. Trautman pointed the bird out to him on December 29, 1970. To carry this a step further, the Kittiwake was initially found December 28, 1970, the day of the Hoover Reservoir Christmas Bird Count. Tom Thomson was the Compiler of that count. Tom was the compiler all but three years from 1956 through 1990 when he handed the reins over to me. This Kittiwake was not as nice. It waited until it was outside my count week and I couldn't even give it a CW. The Kittiwake was still present as of Thursday afternoon.
