Hi all, Two calls today about one (maybe two?) Baltimore Orioles. After an absence of perhaps two and a half weeks, the male Baltimore Oriole returned to a feeder in Worthington, near the junction of State Route 161 and State Route 315. Then, early this afternoon, my parents called to a report a sensational-looking male Baltimore Oriole visiting their suet feeder, also in Worthington! The distance between the two locales is precisely eight-tenths of a mile - a pittance of a distance for a bird that normally flies to Costa Rica for the winter. My hunch is it's the same guy, and he's no doubt hitting other feeders in the neighborhood. Good photos exist of the birds at both places, and hopefully a comparison can determine if it is the same bird. Finally, Lynn Riley kindly reports the following regarding White-winged Crossbills: "30 or more white wing crossbills at Mount Vernon, Ohio. Intersection of Hwy 229 East and Fox Chase Dr. in 40 to 50 foot tall spruce and cedar trees. This is the third day we have seen them flying in and out of these trees eating the cone seeds."
