Mary Anne Romito and I visited Old Woman Creek, Sheldon's Marsh, Castalia, and some back roads this morning. Highlights: Old Woman Creek: one adult Bald Eagle, 24 Wild Turkeys roosting in trees across the estuary from the viewing platform, a nice selection of woodland birds. Sheldon's: one immature Bald Eagle, two Brown Creepers, one each Song and Swamp Sparrows, woodland birds. Castalia: Not as packed as we expected, given that the lake is pretty nearly frozen, but a nice variety. Canada Geese, Mallards, American Black Duck, Northern Shoveler, Redhead, American Wigeon, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, Gadwall. One big flock of Horned Larks, one small flock with a couple of Snow Buntings, and a gray ghost Northern Harrier at various places along the back roads.
