Sunday, February 1, 2009 Observers: Paula Lozano & Bob Finkelstein This afternoon we birded the backroads of Lorain County, noting the following: Ring-necked pheasant - 1, male, Whitney Road Bald eagle - 1, adult, soaring above Jones Road near the Oberlin Reservoir Red-tailed hawk - 4 American kestrel - 2; 1 on Oberlin Road, 1 on Whitney Road Horned lark - 35 on West Road, ~75-100 on Whitney Road, 8 on Hawley Road Eastern bluebird - 8: 3 on West Road, 5 on Albrecht Road Lapland longspur - 6, with horned larks and buntings in freshly manuered field near corner of West Road Snow bunting - ~75-100, on Whitney Road near West Road Note: In addition to the pheasant, larks, longspurs and buntings at the Whitney Road site, Betty Weinstock and Helen Ketcham reported seeing an eastern meadlowlark.
