Julie West and I took a walk around the Lower Shaker Lake and to the Nature Center at Shaker Lake (Shaker Heights, old Delorme 41, quadrant A6) yesterday afternoon. Basically pretty quiet, with a few of the usual suspects and a couple of species doing some early breeding interaction... But we had some excitement as we were standing in my front yard after our walk (near Fairmount and Coventry Roads in Cleveland Heights, a couple of blocks north of the Lower Shaker Lake). Julie saw a Red-Tailed Hawk disappear behind the rooftops. As we were waiting for that bird to reappear, a mature Bald Eagle soared from behind the houses, circling south. Seems that they are everywhere this year!
