A very windy Oak Hill Cemetery produced 8 White Winged Crossbills today feeding high in a spruce tree.

The real action was on CH112 north of Upper Sandusky where the Snow Buntings and Lapland Longspurs have returned with a vengence! Hundreds of each with many inds. in their striking breeding plumage. They are attracted by the standing water that occurs in the fields here.

Also noticed large flocks of blackbirds moving today, mostly redwings, cowbirds, and grackles. I've seen Brewer's Blackbirds this time of year mixed in with these early migrating blackbird flocks.
