Hi-It felt like early spring today in Athens recently. We are suddenly swamped with American Robins. Although there are wintering Robins in this area, it is always evident when the first wave of migrant Robins arrive. The resident Vulture roost seems to be swelling-I saw at least 100 Black Vultures kettling with the more numerous Turkey Vultures this afternoon. Eastern Towhee males are regularly singing. A male Goldfinch at the feeder was showing subtle signs of molting on the neck and forehead. It won't be long before the spring peepers are calling and Spotted Salamanders start moving.
