On my lunch hour in Hamilton county yesterday, 3/14/09, I heard a "Huh or Heogh" call but at first could not locate it. When I turned around I found a female Cooper's Hawk sitting on a branch. Soon, the male arrived and quickly began breaking off twigs. He made direct flights to the nest about 30-40 ft. up in a scarlet oak and about 30 yds. away from where the female continued to call. During the course of my observations, which lasted about 30 minutes in late morning, I watched the male make at least five trips to the nest with nesting material and mount the female once during copulation. The female did not partake in any nest building activities during the course of this observation.

This observation has been entered into OBBA II block # 74C3NW.
