As Bob Royse reported yesterday, the Osprey have returned to Deer Creek State Park. Early this afternoon, they were perched atop the nesting platform. I observed them for about 15 minutes, and they remained in the same place the entire time. I was able to get a number of digiscope photos, one of which can be seen at http://genebirds.blogspot.com/ . The number of Ring-billed Gulls was apparently way down from Bob's report yesterday, but the Lesser Black-backed Gull was on the beach with a small flock of RBGU. A digiscope photo of that bird is also at the above site. The many ducks Bob reported also apparently have moved on, all I found were about 15 Lesser Scaup. There were still good numbers of mostly dabbling ducks at the wetland, however.
