This post is a little dated, but I wanted to share this with list. Sat.(the 7th) Dave Dyer and I did some B.B.Atlas work in 78c2ne. Not a lot of action to count, since it is still a tad early. But we did get a Eastern Screech Owl to respond one time? we thought.. (with tape playback) in the daylight hours ..8:30am.

We went back the same night(7:30) to try for the Screech again and firm up the T1 code if we could. What followed was very good results.

No owls were calling when we arrived, but one Screech responded right away..there was some moonlight coming thru the trees there, so we could see his silhouette as he flew in..within 25 feet landing on a sideways hanging grape vine.. A couple of minutes later, another Screech came in very low over us(8ft.or less)..must have been a female, we did put a light on them(for a brief look) as they sat together some 25-30 ft. away, and did not seem to mind us at all.

One was red phase, the other gray. We did not use the tape much, did not have to. We could hear 2-other Screech owls calling in the distance..4 owls! All in a few acres of timber in Scioto Trail.
