Spent most of the day in the viewing area. Two adult Bald Eagles were in and out of the nest all day at infrequent intervals. The two immatures that have also been seen in the area were not seen today between 11-6. The nest is a long way from the viewing area, perhaps as much as 1/2 mile and a scope is needed. Branches also obscure a clear view to the nest and as the trees green out the view will be further obstructed. Along with the Eagles, a pair of Red-tailed Hawks were often seen and mating behavior was observed. There were American Coots, Ring-necked ducks, Bufflehead and Mallards on the nearby lake. There are a few pictures at http://www.pbase.com/nsxbirder/bald_eagles_at_eastwood_park. If you use google maps for Eastwood Park you should find a map that will locate the parking, viewing area, and approximate nest site. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
