Today, Shaune Skinner and I visited Dillon Lake which is several miles northwest of Zanesville on S.R. 146 (Muskingum County). On the way home, I stopped at Tansky's Marsh (Wayne National Forest) which is on the south side of S.R. 93 several miles south of New Straitsville (Hocking County). I should also mention that the Eastern Phoebes have returned to my area along Price Road (Hocking County) - I have seen/heard them since last Saturday (3/7). Dillon Lake: Lesser Scaup/Ring-Necked Duck - group of 200+ (about 50/50 of each) Common Merganser - 1 Horned Grebe - 4 Ring-Billed Gull - many Great Blue Heron - 7 Kingfisher - 3 Bald Eagle - 2 immature (possibly 3) Red-Breasted Nuthatch - 1 Red-Bellied Woodpecker - 1 Northern Flicker - 4 Downy Woodpecker - 3 Killdeer - 3 Eastern Bluebird - 8 American Robin - 25+ Blue Jay - 5 Northern Cardinal - 2 Song Sparrow - 10 House Sparrow - 1 Mourning Dove - 3 Carolina Wren - 1 Tufted Titmouse - 1 Carolina Chickadee - 6 Grackle - 10 Turkey Vulture - 13 American Crow - many *Red-Winged Blackbird - 300+ ("Sportsman Area" on North end of Lake) Tansky's Marsh: Hooded Merganser - 4 (2 pair; M/F) Blue-Winged Teal - 1 Wood Duck - 6 Canada Geese - 12 Red-Shouldered Hawk - 1 Red-Winged Blackbird - 2 American Crow - 2 ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
