I stopped to visit a local Bald Eagle nest this morning. It’s received a decent amount of local press. It’s VERY easy to find. Both Eagles were there this morning at 830, one in the nest and one in a tree about 20 yards from the nest. I also watched a magnificent Sandhill Crane stand on top of a mound and call out. Great way to start the day! To find the nest, take Center Ridge Road in North Ridgeville, Lorain County, to the All Star Sports Café. That’s the intersection of Center Ridge Road and Meadow Lakes Drive. Take Meadow Lakes Drive to the North, and go less than one mile to Amber Drive. Take a left on Amber Drive. That road is less than 50 yards long. Go to the dead end. As you stand at the dead end, the nest is at about 2 o’clock. No doubt you will have no trouble finding it at all. There is only one house on this road and it didn’t look like it was occupied. This is a residential development that seems to have stalled, there is plenty of parking and it does not seem like there are any neighbors that would be bothered by bird watchers. Enjoy, I know I did! Spencer A. Ryan Avon Lake, OH ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
