Still plenty of juncoes but the goldfinches are brightening, the groundhogs are chasing each other and squealing, the phoebe is calling at Thurber Pond, a fox sparrow was scratching in the leaves near the Bridge.  No sign of the merlin and no sign of the horned owl in her nest, but Rob Thorn assures me she's probably just incubating--worried rumors abound re her having abandoned her nest due to the noisy machinery cutting up storm damaged trees in the immediate vicinity.  Good birding!  Pam Unger
