My apologies if this has already been posted. There is Trumpeter Swan nest that is easily viewed on the smaller (eastern) island in the largest impoundment of Medusa Marsh. Neither adult has that familiar field mark - a neck collar - so it is likely that people may see them and dismiss them as the Mute Swans that normally nested here. Saturday, our Firelands Audubon bird class watched as the male chased several Canada Geese from the area. Seeing him in the air chasing a goose gives you a good appreciation for his size. Medusa Marsh is the stretch of road (Barrett Rd) in Erie County between Sandusky and Bayview. If you are heading down Route 2, to the north between the Rt 6/Fremont and the Rt 269 exits. More information on Medusa Marsh and other birding opportunities in the area can be found in the site guide at ohiobirds.org.
