White-winged Scoter: Kent Miller reported that a male was present on Wellington Reservoir on the 17th. Red-throated Loon: Greg Bennett reported that one was present at Springfield Lake on the afternoon of the 19th. Red-necked Grebe: Kent Miller reported that one was still at Wellington Reservoir as of the 17th. Eared Grebe: John Pogacnik sighted one during his Lakeshore Waterbird Survey on the 18th. Gabe Leidy reported that one was along CR 205 east of CR 282 in Bellevue on the 19th. Yellow-crowned Night-Heron: Up to five were observed trying to build a nest at the traditional spot in Columbus this week. Golden Eagle: Paul Haskins observed one at Dillon WA in Muskingum County on the 19th. Julie Shieldcastle reported that one was sighted from the Magee Marsh Observation Tower during a Hawk Watch on the 21st. Chris Knoll observed one at Maumee Bay SP on the 22nd. BLACK-NECKED STILT: Phil Chaon located one along Benton-Carroll Rd just south of Rte 2 in Ottawa County on the 23rd. Upland Sandpiper: Sean Williams reported that one was at Delaware Run on the 18th. RUFF: Phil Chaon observed one along Stange Rd approximately one-half mile south of Rte 2 on the 20th. The bird was relocated on the 22nd in the same area. BLACK-HEADED GULL: John Pogacnik observed an adult during his Lakeshore Waterbird Survey on the 18th. Franklin's Gull: Phil Chaon saw two along Benton-Carroll Rd just south of Rte 2 at the second pond on the 20th. EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE: Troy Shively discovered a nest at the grain elevator on the corner of Market and Mill Streets in Celina on the 18th. Several birders have subsequently seen the doves. Northern Saw-whet Owl: Kent Miller reported hearing one at the east end of the Magee Marsh Boardwalk on the 17th. MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD: The bird was seen on the morning of the 17th. It has not been seen since then. Lark Sparrow: Slightly early, have returned to the Oak Openings at Girdham and Reed Roads as of the 19th. GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW: Robert Sams reported that the bird was still present on the 23rd. Birders were welcome to see the sparrow on the 22nd and 23rd. Many took advantage of the gracious invitation and were rewarded with good looks at the bird. SMITH'S LONGSPUR: The longspurs were reported to still be present on the morning of the 23rd along Manley Road west of Rockport in Mercer County. Western Meadowlark: One is still being seen along Cygnet Rd at the intersection with Range Line Road. Troy Shively saw and heard one at the Indian Lake High School located at the junction of Rtes 274 and 235 on the 23rd. Yellow-headed Blackbird: Rick Nirschl observed one male on the beach at Magee Marsh on the 18th. Brewer's Blackbird: The Neubauers observed one along the boardwalk at Magee Marsh on the 19th. White-winged Crossbill: Eric Burkholder found six in section 52 of Spring Grove Cemetery on the 17th. Jay Stenger observed two at Spring Grove Cemetery on the 18th. Willis Brubaker observed 20 in Overton, just west of Wooster, on the 18th. Kent Miller saw three males at Quail Hollow SP on the 18th.
