The hemlock woods atop and around the Ritchie Ledges in the CVNP held many thrushes this morning, 4 species in total, including Wood, Veery, Swainsons, and Hermit, with Swainsons being the most plentiful (6). As all were singing save for the Hermit Thrushes, the shaded and dark hemlock woods felt little short of ethereal. While the number of warbler species was somewhat disappointing, other good finds including Winter Wren, for the second time this week, and in the same area at the Ledges.
