During a short walk at Spring Valley Wildlife Area in Warren and Greene Counties yesterday, I found my fos Blue-gray Gnatcatchers. Yellow-rumped Warblers were numerous on the bike path. It appears as if the Pileated Woodpeckers have abandoned the cavity they had started excavating about a month ago near the bike path. Red-shouldered Hawk was on the nest. Today, in my yard about 5 miles from SVWA, I had my first Chipping Sparrows feeding alongside Northern Juncos, White-crowned Sparrows, and one lone Pine Siskin. First time I've ever had a siskin vocalizing in my yard. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
