Hi birders, My brother Greg and I found a male and female pair of BLUE GROSBEAKS at the Huffman Pairie this morning. (Huffman Prairie is just east of Dayton, links here: http://www.aviationheritagearea.org/huffmanPrairie.htm http://www.hmdb.org/marker.asp?marker=4587 ) The male bird was singing regularly at about 7:30 AM, and later a male and female bird were seen foraging silently fairly high in an oak tree. Other birds in the area (complete eBird list below, also) included Bobolinks, lots of Eastern Meadowlarks, and at least 6 Orchard Orioles. Good birding Tim Spahr Fairborn (but back to Boston today) ---------------------------------------------------------- Location: Huffman Prairie Flying Field Observation date: 5/17/09 Notes: Blue Grosbeak pair interacting--they are probably nesting here.
