The lakefront dike will be temporarily opened at Magee Marsh for your viewing pleasure. Walking will be permitted for about one half mile and there have been some shorebirds down there as part of the unit is being drawn down. The birding is a little slow today, but it's a great day to pull garlic mustard! Please consider lending a hand if you can. We pull on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1-4 pm. Saturday is International Migratory Bird Day and we have many special events going on. BACK TO THE WILD will be here with many birds of prey and other wildlife. They will be in the tent in front of the Bird Center. Also at the Bird Center will be the Maumee Bay carvers and the Friends of Magee Marsh bookstore will be open. There will be wagon rides leaving from the Bird Center from 10-2 pm. This is a partnership with Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. There will be a food and an optics tent set up down by the boardwalk. This year EAGLE OPTICS will be on hand for you to try out binoculars and scopes. They will be here Saturday and Sunday. Happy Birding! Mary L.
