There was a male Blue Grosbeak at the Scenic View picnic area of Twin Creek MetroPark near Germantown. The bird was singing in a tree a hundred yards beyond the picnic shelter. The same area had a few Henslow's sparrows singing, sometimes perched in view a couple feet off the ground.

I later met Shane Egleston and we went to the Barrett Paving gravel pit on Farmersville W. Carrollton Rd. Looking down at the pit from the gate Shane spotted an adult Little Blue Heron standing on a large rock at the end of the little peninsula straight ahead (north) of where we were standing, about 400 yards away. There were also 3 Greater and 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Semipalmated Plovers, and a Common Loon. This gate is the first one east of the intersection between Soldiers Home Miamisburg Rd and Farmersville W. Carrollton Rd.
