Bird activity was high yesterday at Mosquito Creek Wildlife Area in Trumbull Co. Some of the highlights included: Yellow-breasted chat - One bird on the park headquarters street Prothonotary warbler - many close and singing on Hoagland-Blackstub Rd. Bobolink - at least 20 in the field behind the parking lot on HB Rd Yellow-billed cuckoo - One very close bird that was chased off by a nesting robin American redstart - One on HB Rd and also a healthy amount of orioles, indigo buntings, common yellowthroats, yellow warblers, and willow flycatchers. Conspicuous in their absence were Yellow-throated vireos...or any vireos for that matter, and I struck out yet again on the Ceruleans that are supposed nesters here along HB Rd. The day before I had fantastic views of a Virginia rail and several Marsh wrens at Yeagley-Firestone Marsh near Lake Guilford on Depot Rd. Finally, I've had a Wilson's warbler hanging around my yard for the past 4 or 5 days here in Boardman (Mahoning Co). cheers, John G Petruzzi -- John Guy Petruzzi Fine Art & Illustration www.johnguypetruzzi.com ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
