Greetings
The other day I saw a dark object take off from our koi pool which is
about 8 feet from my office window. A black bird, or so I thought,
not to worry. Moments later a green heron caught my eye dancing
cautiously around the perimeter of the pool. While I scrambled for
the camera, it gave me a long stare then took off. I haven't seen it
since at the pool but I did place deer netting over it just in case
it returns. It's terrific to see such a beautiful bird that close.
All koi were accounted for prior to putting up the net.

We continue to have pine siskins at the feeder along with female
purple finches. Carolina wrens have shown up recentlyl. The return
of chickadees and titmice are a welcome sight as well. A hairy
woodpecker has been feeding it's young from the suet feeder. Too cute.
Happy birding.
