The wetland pond at Highbanks Metro Park in Columbus has again produced a couple of OBBA breeding rarities for central Ohio.

Currently at the wetlands, there is a female Hooded Merganser with four chicks - last year there were five chicks.  Also, there is a Pied-billed Grebe setting on a nest about 40 yards directly in front of the blind and the male is continuing to call.  

I monitor the bird boxes along the wetland shore and it was a good first nesting with 100% of the Bluebirds (5 total) and 100% of the Trees Swallows (34 total) fledging successfully.
