I went ALL OVER Columbus today, looking for lifers. I might have one. Check out near the end. I started off at dawn in Delaware at the Blue Limestone Park...Just to get a GBH out of the way. :) I then went to Hoover Reservoir Areas M an N and the Yacht Club to get a little morning sun hitting Prothonotaries action. While there I also picked up in no particular order: Cormorant Can. Geese BW Teal Mallards w/ young Orioles Robins RWBB Cardinals Tree Sparrows Titmice Swainson's Thrush more GBHs Catbirds House Wren A Phoebe on every corner The sound of a Kingfisher mad that I invaded HIS territory two Cedar Waxwings Brown Thrasher Chickadees A Red Bellied woodpecker feeding it's young, Gold Finchs Chipping Sparrows Nuthatches and of course The Resident Osprey There was also one that was a 12:00 high flyby that looked like a GBH/Egret but smaller...white underbelly is all that I saw, I did not see any yellow "slippers", so I am at a loss as of what it was. After a quick refuel at Juli's I was on my way to Blendon Woods. I only took the dog walk trail, I was going to do Sugarbush, but I was in need of a rest and a nap from Juli's 2+2+2 Breakfast. The only birds not noted already were Towhees. I then decided to try something new and go to Pickerington Ponds to check out the ring necked duck, it was still there. Along with: MORE GBHs Great Egrets A Mocking Bird with food in it's mouth heading towards a tree. Cedar Waxwings by the dozen Barn Swallows Tree Swallows Blue Wing Teal Mallards Song Sparrows Killdeer More Osprey If you go over there, check out the nests of GBHs, right beside it is a nest of a Red Tailed Hawk..Talk about sleeping with the enemy.:) As it was getting late in the day and Tiger was nearing the clubhouse, I decided to try to make it over to Glacier Ridge. First I went up to the Main Entrance, and walked the Red Oak Trail...nothing but Robins. Then I went down to the wetlands: MORE GBHs More Egrets another Red Tailed Hawk 1 Solitary Sandpiper Mallards Blue Teal Song Sparrow Tree Sparrow Now a mystery bird, The last bird I saw today over at Glacier Ridge was this: http://s153.photobucket.com/albums/s226/sjlarue/Birds/Whatsitcopy.jpg Haven't a clue. I simply can not find another one like it on the WWW or Kaufman's for that matter. Thanks for any help.
