I don't manage purple martin colonies or anything like that but I'd like to mention something I
observed while doing a breeding bird survey on a property in Claridon Twp, Geauga County. I
watched at least two dozen adult and immature tree swallows perching in the willows and feeding
near a pond when I put the binoculars on a solitary LARGE swallow hanging with the rest. It appeared
to be an immature purple martin in the company of the tree swallows.
