Went birding Thursday afternoon. Mostly, I wanted to see that Ibis. At Ottawa, the best thing I saw was 2 mute Swans with 5 young, almost as big as geese. At Magee, I did better. I started at the east boardwalk entrance. Saw a lot of green leaves. At the junction with the boardwalk south of the lake. I saw a Brewster's Warbler. First one I've ever seen. This was approximately where a lot of people saw 1 or more Golden Winged Warblers the last few weeks of spring migration. Then, I kept walking south. When I got all the way south, I saw an Olive-sided Flycatcher. Then I started walking North, & turning to the east, I walked back to the junction where I saw the warbler. I walked back towards the East exit. about 200 yards before the exit, I saw a juvenile Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in a dead Cypress tree. Driving back, I flushed a Cooper's Hawk, near the East exit. Metzger Marsh - nothing worth mentioning. Maumee Bay SP - A. Goldfinch. Fished for an hour. Caught 2 good - sized Yellow Catfish & a E. Painted Turtle. Released the turtle. Went home. Arrived late at my wife's party. V. Lee Grover ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
