I have seen more king birds around than I have ever seen before. Most are along Lake Erie but I have seen several at a boy scout camp in Wakeman too. Tonight I saw an adult feeding a fledgling on the wires along Detroit Rd. by the water treatment plant in Westlake at Clague rd. There are several chirping all day long at the Avon Lake pool on Saturday. All along Lake Rd. in Bay Village and Avon Lake they can be seen. There are also a few at the Avon Lake fishing pier and a Cahoon Park in Bay Village. I find their call kind of abrasive and I have to look because it reminds me of purple martins. I think king birds and purple martins seem to like the same habitats. I often see them near each other. I usually only notice king birds in late May probably during migration. This year I see them at all my kids' activities. Terry ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
