Hey all -

Sat. morning, Emil Bacik and I hit Pickerel Creek WA and Ottawa NWR. At Pickerel, cooperative RED-NECKED PHALAROPE and WESTERN SANDPIPER were the highlights north of the observation tower, and a WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER was north of the woodlot. The driving tour at Ottawa offered little excitement, nor did Pool 2A, which is nearly dry. 19 Snowy Egrets were tallied.

This morning, I was relieved to stumble upon two CATTLE EGRETS off Rt. 4, north of W. Strub Rd. Head north on Rt. 4 from SR 2, and make the first left. The birds were in the field behind the houses, north of the glass office building. Whew! I was close to chalking this species up as a miss for the year! At Pickerel, I visited the pool north of the woodlot and explored areas to the east. Quite a bit of turnover here overnight. Shorebird highlights included WESTERN (2) and WHITE-RUMPED (3) SANDPIPERS, WILSON'S PHALAROPE, American Golden-Plover, and Ruddy Turnstone and flyover Northern Harrier and Broad-winged Hawk were also nice. Fide Jan Auburn and Larry Richardson, the Red-necked Phalarope remained north of the platform.
