Wednesday between 10 am and 2pm I spent time at Horseshoe Pond/Tree Farm Trail and Kendall Lake in Cuyahoga Valley NP. Horseshoe Pond/Tree Farm Trail sightings: green heron great blue heron wood duck turkey vulture cooper's hawk red shouldered hawk ruby throated hummingbird downy woodpecker eastern wood pewee acadian flycatcher - all flycatchers called and were confirmed except this one eastern phoebe great crested flycatcher BLUE HEADED VIREO - great looks, down low red eyed vireo - also down low, great look at red eyes blue jay bc chickadee tufted titmouse RED BREASTED NUTHATCH - usually found at Horseshoe Pond year round white breasted nuthatch house wren + fledgelings amer. robin gray catbird cedar waxwing BLUE WINGED WARBLER - adult male + fledgelings, more heard calling several locations scarlet tanager - adult female hopping from one goldenrod stem to another, bending them to the ground eastern towhee - bucketloads everywhere - male carrying food, juveniles with adults song sparrow - just one! odd n. cardinal rose breasted grosbeak - just one juvenile american goldfinch - lots, with one especially fine melodic singer serenading me The WILDFLOWER MEADOW on Tree Farm Trail will be at peak bloom in about 7 days! Stunning with coreopsis, queen anne's lace, purple knapweed, ironweed, joe pye weed, coneflower, goldenrod and more! Butterflies galore!
