Greetings everyone! Just wanted to report that there has been a white-eyed vireo singing outside of the naturalist office here at Slate Run Metro Park (just southeast of Columbus, part of the Columbus & Franklin County Metro Parks). It's been singing several times each day for the past 3 days, only for a minute or so each time. Thought that was interesting, considering that the little guy should start heading south within the next couple of weeks. Also, plenty of great egrets in the wetland area. If you're lucky enough to have something scare all the ducks off the water, you'll also see lots of blue-winged teal, wood ducks, mallards, and canada geese. I haven't had much time to bird at the park in the last few weeks, but I quickly looked up in the trees on my way to a program and noticed tons of birds moving around, feeding, and hanging from the poison ivy. Good luck if you have more time to spend birding there! Enjoy!
