Hi all, This week in Bluffton (Allen Co.) I had a Rose-breasted Grossbeak on the feeder, together with a Carolina Chickadee. Nuthatches and at least one Downy Woodpecker have been busy in the neighborhood trees and I spied a Brown Creeper in the pine across the street from our house. Small flocks of Cedar Waxwings have been passing through daily and a juvie Cooper's Hawk dined on European Starling in our backyard last week. Regarding the bird codes. While I know many may not want to learn them, they really do come in handy on field trips if you keep track in a little notebook. You can fit a lot more four-letter codes on a page than full names. It also takes less time to write than, say Red-bellied Woodpecker, leaving more time to observe. It is worthwhile learning and using codes if you do a lot of birding. happy birding, Chris Caprette ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
