In my haste and excitement over the falcon, I made a few errors in my post yesterday. Dane was kind enough to point them out to me. NOT a GREAT HERON, it was a GREAT EGRET NOT a CANADIAN GOOSE, it was a CANADA GOOSE NOT a PIE BILLED GREBE, it was a PIED BILLED GREBE Just in case there was any confusion as to what I actually saw! ;) -----Original Message----- From: Ohio birds [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Spencer-Ryan-St Marie Insurance Sent: Thursday, October 22, 2009 2:08 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [Ohio-birds] Sandy Ridge, Lorain County - Peregrine Falcon I spent lunch at Sandy Ridge today. Sandy Ridge is part of the Lorain County Metro Parks and is located in North Ridgeville on Otten Road. I was able to get spectacular views of a Peregrine Falcon. It was tormenting a gull, then spent 10 minutes attacking flocks of Green Winged Teals. Lots of splashing and drama. Then it decided to focus its attention on a Turkey Vulture. It was quite a scene and very enjoyable to watch. Complete List: Peregrine Falcon Green Winged Teal Turkey Vulture Yellow Rumped Warbler Eastern Bluebird Brown Creeper Golden Crowned Kinglet Winter Wren Great Blue Heron Great Heron Mallard Canadian Goose Pie Billed Grebe Tufted Titmouse Black Capped Chickadee White Breasted Nuthatch Northern Shoveler Red-Headed Woodpecker Downy Woodpecker Red-Bellied Woodpecker Good Birding!
