Wendy Park was the field trip spot today for Western Cuyahoga Audubon. Most of the activity was in the brush and trees up against the Lake Erie shore by the causeway to the old Coast Guard station. That was where we saw and heard the Winter Wren. There was a pair of American Kestrels by the railroad tracks, perched obligingly on the wires. Three of us stayed for a bit longer to explore the woods at the center of Wendy Park, and added beautifully marked male American Redstart to the group's list. 30 species Canada Goose Mallard Double-crested Cormorant Great Blue Heron Turkey Vulture American Kestrel Killdeer Ring-billed Gull Herring Gull Rock Pigeon Belted Kingfisher Yellow-bellied Sapsucker Northern Flicker Eastern Wood Pewee Blue-headed Vireo Blue Jay American Crow Brown Creeper Winter Wren Golden-crowned Kinglet Gray Catbird European Starling Nashville Warbler Yellow-rumped Warbler Palm Warbler American Redstart Common Yellowthroat Song Sparrow White-throated Sparrow American Goldfinch House Sparrow ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
