This evening at Highbanks, I had a single female Purple Finch on the Overlook Trail. At the wetlands, it still looks like early fall with over 70 Wood Ducks, 2 Pied-bill Grebes, a dozen or so Blue-winged Teal and 2 Gadwall. Yesterday morning at Highbanks, the majority of activity was on the pet trail with large flocks of Robins, Cedar Waxwings and Yellow-rumped Warblers. There were 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, a Hermit Thrush and a single Winter Wren. Migrant sparrow numbers were reduced with only a few scattered Field Sparrows and Chipping Sparrows but the White-throated Sparrows are present now in good numbers. For the past two evenings, my backyard feeder in suburban Westerville has attracted 5-8 White-throated Sparrows, a single White-crowned Sparrow and two Juncos.
