Despite the cold drizzle and snow, it was a nice afternoon to be out birding. At the west end of the causeway there were 2 Dunlin, 60+ Ring-billed Gulls, and 4 Bonaparte's Gulls. Along the road north there was a Cooper's Hawk perched on a telephone pole. At the Padanaram boat launch I had about 25 Common Loons fly over, fairly low and looking like they might put down nearby. Finally some loons in the area! A short ways farther north I stopped at another spot, it's on the Ohio side of the lake but it's technically part of Pymatuning State Park in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. It's a good spot for waterfowl and woodpeckers this time of year. A group of Tundra Swans came in for a landing while I was there. Here's what I saw: Tundra Swan, 14 Belted Kingfisher Pileated Woodpecker Red-bellied Woodpecker, pair Downy Woodpecker Black-capped Chickadee Golden-crowned Kinglet Good birding!
