I did go to Sims Park in Euclid twice today. The lake was calm in the late morning and I was there in the rain from 11:15 to 12:05pm until fingers got cold. I returned around 3:15 to 3:45pm. Not much different in the afternoon but the wind had picked up and it was choppier and there were more Goldeneyes than I have seen. This isn't much different from yesterday except for the Common Mergansers. Saw the following in the water: White-winged Scoter 1 Surf Scoter 1 Common Mergansers 10 (1M,9F)after awhile they took off west, thought they would land around the Goldeneye but kept going. Red-breasted Mergansers - not a whole lot Lesser Scaup - 3 (flew in from east, stayed short time and flew west) Common Goldeneye ~ 45 Bufflehead 10 Bonaparte's Gulls - few dozen Richmond Hts/Euclid Red-shouldered Hawks - 2 On the way back from Wildwood around 1pm I was driving east on Highland Rd just up from Euclid Creek Reservation when I saw a Red-shouldered Hawk sitting on a telephone/utility pole on the north side across and just down from the old GE building (Richmond Hts) I turned around went back down Highland Rd and turned on Georgetown Rd. and there was another one on the wires across the road from the other one. Seeing me it flew to some trees in the field near the turnaround on Georgetown which would put it in Euclid I believe. I did this several times before I gave up.
